It is already our second Saturday in Ireland: 10 days have passed since we arrived!!! We thought it would take longer, but it hasn’t been so bad! We met quite early for our English class today because we will become tourists in Dublin! And since it takes a while to get there, our class started at 9.00 and we left around 10:00. We have had great fun on the bus that has taken us there: we played games… but we mainly shared all our experiences of this very first week, and also laughed when Maria told us how many cups of coffee and tea Guille and herself had to drink during this week when they visited our families. Our English teacher, Sarah, has also come with us on the tour, but as Guille has done it many times, she walked us all along the City Centre. But before we had lunch as soon as we got there: we are already used to the Irish meal times, and at 12:30, we were very hungry! So, after starting our visit at Christ Church, we went down to Dublin Castle and the Town Hall, which is next to it. Afterward, we had the chance to wander around Temple Bar, and Maria took a photo of us all at the door, just like the one at the airport, but… for real!!!! We had the opportunity to pass through a pub, the Merchants Arch: we entered the pub on one side and crossed to the other side, so we could see what a pub is like on the inside. There was live music as well! We then crossed the Ha’penny Bridge to the other side of the city and walked along the river up to O’Connell Bridge, where we could also see his statue. Our next stop was at Trinity College, where one can see the Book of Kells: one of the first Bibles found in Ireland, but instead of just watching one page in the exhibition, we were able to see many of them as we went into the bookstore and saw some photos of different pages. We finally got to Stephen’s Green and went into a huge shopping center close to it. But it is not a normal one: it’s very pretty inside! We walked around, checked some shops for the souvenirs we want to take home, and that we will buy on June 1st after our English exam. It has been quite a tiring walk, but we have seen some of the most important places to visit. As we get home, we are already counting down for our next excursion. So we will meet again in our next post!
